Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a pan with parchment paper.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples; set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.
- In another bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and yogurt until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; stir until just combined.
- Spread half the batter in the prepared pan and layer half the apple slices on top.
- Add remaining batter over apples and arrange remaining apple slices decoratively on top.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon for topping; sprinkle over the cake.
