- 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 large onion, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for the marinade. Add beef strips and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until soft and caramelized for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, heat remaining vegetable oil on high heat. Add marinated beef strips and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
- In a small bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Pour over the beef and stir until thickened.
- Add caramelized onions back into the pan and combine well before serving over rice or noodles.
