- 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
- 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 3 cups Heavy Cream
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated)
- Fresh Parsley (chopped)
- 1/2 Baguette
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 2 tsp Oregano
- 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water (for béchamel)
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
- Thinly slice the onions and sauté them in olive oil over medium heat for about 30–40 minutes until caramelized.
- If onions stick, add beef broth and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- In the same skillet, create a béchamel sauce by whisking flour into melted butter, then gradually adding heavy cream until thickened.
- Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions, along with salt, pepper, chopped parsley, and grated Parmesan.
- Cook cavatappi macaroni until al dente; combine with the creamy sauce mixture.
- Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining caramelized onions and breadcrumbs, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
