- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
- 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
- 1/2 cup Beef Broth
- 3 cups Heavy Cream
- 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp Water (for béchamel)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sugar
- Oregano
- Garlic Powder
- Smoked Paprika
- Nutmeg
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions in olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
- In the same skillet, prepare the béchamel sauce by whisking flour with melted butter and gradually adding heavy cream until smooth.
- Stir two-thirds of the caramelized onions into the sauce; season with salt, pepper, and parsley.
- Cook cavatappi macaroni until just shy of al dente; drain and mix with the sauce.
- Transfer to a baking dish; top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs if desired.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
