  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until browned.
  2. Stir in the chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Let simmer for an hour on low heat.
  3. Add the rinsed pinto beans and salt. Cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
