Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, egg, egg yolk, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually add flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  3. Incorporate blue food coloring; knead until slightly sticky. Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl for 1 to 1½ hours.
  4. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon; fold in crushed cookies and chocolate chips.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly over it, then roll tightly from one side. Slice into 12 pieces.
  6. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For icing, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  9. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and serve.
