  • 25 g butter
  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 200 g grated apples
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 140 g sour cream (room temperature)
  • 100 g butter (for caramel buttercream)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugars and vegetable oil until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in sour cream and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in grated apples.
  5. Divide batter between pans and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes before frosting with caramel buttercream and salted caramel sauce.
