- 100 g heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground all spice
- 100 g dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 165 g powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the caramel sauce by heating sugar and water until dissolved, then whisk in butter, heavy cream, and salt.
- Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
- Combine wet ingredients: sugars, grated apples, oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour batter into a greased cake pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While cooling, prepare the buttercream by beating butter with powdered sugar and caramel.
